PJ is a special kitten with unique gifts all his own. His lovable siblings, Mischka and Pickles, admire their brother's talents and discover a surprising secret.
Follow the adventures of PJ, as he teaches his brother and sister that everyone has their own special gifts and talents, regardless of circumstance.
This book teaches children acceptance, tolerance and self-confidence, and that while we may experience the world in different ways, we all have gifts that make each one of us unique and special. It encourages children to look past labels and believe in themselves, while also raising awareness that blind pets can live happy and fulfilling lives.
"Adventures of PJ has become one of our little one's (5 yrs.) favorite bedtime reads. She loves the clever rhyming and adorable illustrations. I love the empowering and inspiring tale of this special little kitten. Plus, how great is it that it’s based on the story of the real PJ. Adventures of PJ is a must-have for parents/teachers looking to teach little ones about love, acceptance, and embracing differences. Here’s hoping the author make this into a series! " Denise S.
"Absolutely adorable! A great tool for parents to help open up important conversations with their able bodies children, as well as showing other-abled children that they are represented. " Amy H.
"What a wonderful message this book delivers. The story of PJ and his abilities despite not having one of his senses, is an uplifting tale of uniqueness and strength. Sweet illustrations add to the story to delight children of all ages." Rebekah A.
"Wonderful children's book with a universal message of positivity. My 8 year old son and I truly enjoy it." Ryan H.
This book is based on true events. I rescued PJ when he was only 4-weeks old. He was born blind with a condition known as microphthalmia. The veterinarian urged me to put PJ down. I was not convinced, so he came home to join me and my cat Mischka. PJ has an exuberance for life; he is brave and filled with self-confidence. He runs around the house, plays, and wrestles like any other cat. He hunts, loves to splash in any water he can find, and never hides from the vacuum or hairdryer. He doesn't think of himself as any different because no one has told him otherwise.
PJ brings incredible joy to my life and teaches me to live every day to its fullest and reject labels or limitations. I hope PJ's story can help children embrace their differences, help build self-confidence, and teach them that while we may experience the world in different ways, we all have gifts that make each of us unique and special.
Lastly, I hope others will consider adopting a blind pet or consider donating to a blind pet rescue organization. Blind pets can live happy, healthy, and joyous lives.
